Mission

Hi there! My name is Derek Wallace and the purpose of this website is to share my unique experiences as I run for President of the United States on an Independent ticket in the year 2016 and document it every moment of the way! In addition, I am on a quest to find 360 other United States citizens who want to run for seats in the Senate & the House of Representatives in 2016. Do you want to see our country transition into a green economy? Do you want to eradicate the influence of lobbyists on politics? Do you want to increase the level of health, happiness and security in not only our country, but the world? Then join me in 2016 and let's see the bright, green future that we dream of become a reality!

My first step on the road to the White House is to reach total sustainability by the year 2010, as I feel that the vast majority of our social ills and detrimental foreign polices are rooted in the harmful methods we use to get our food and goods. In order to do so, I'll be traveling the globe in environmentally-friendly vehicles and staying on organic farms to do work in exchange for room/board through a network called "World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms" ("wwoofing" for short). When I arrive and leave each new city, I'll be using the network at Couchsurfing.com, where you offer travelers a place to stay and act as a host to show them around your area - and where they can do the same when you're in their neck of the woods. It's a way to open our hearts and our homes while creating meaningful connections that cross oceans, continents and national borders.

The purpose of my traveling is two-fold: to put together a public-speaking tour about how other cultures have tackled the issue of sustainability and to bring back methods of communal gardening and generating energy off the grid that United States citizens can employ to help remove their addiction to petroleum-based produce grown on factory farms and to non-renewable resources altogether.
